Partnership with Parents and Carers

Keeping you engaged

We understand that being a parent or carer is a complex and demanding role and we are here to support you as well as your child. We recognise the primary knowledge and expertise that you have about your child, and we believe in working closely with you to develop mutual trust and respect. Communication is a vital and key element to providing the best for you and your child. We are passionate about parent and carer partnerships and your input is important to us so have several ways to stay in the loop together

"Managers work in partnerships with parents and carers. They host open mornings so parents can come into the setting and hold regular parents' evenings to talk about children's learning and development. When staff identify that a child requires additional support, they meet with parents to create an action plan together. This ensures a collaborative approach to children's education"

How do we keep you in the loop?

Key person and transitions

Starting nursery

We understand that your child starting nursery is a big milestone so we ensure that you are supported every step of the way. Firstly, we plan a transition schedule with you, this is where we settle your child into nursery over a period of 2 weeks. Tthis is done steadily with lots of communication between yourself and your designated key person. Your key person is a practitioner dedicated to settling your child in, keeping up with observations and having informed discussions as and when needed.

Moving classrooms

Your child's key person will remain with them until they transition into the next room, appropriate for their age and stage of development. This is done through a careful transition schedule  We also operate a buddy system, which means, when your child's primary key person is away from the setting, there is a secondary key person to support your child who knows them equally as well, ensuring continuity of care.

Transition to school

We understand the emotions parents can feel when the time comes for their child to move on to school. We aim to make the transition as easy as possible for you and your child. In the time leading up to this milestone, we will spend time talking to your child and reading stories about school, We involve you, and will make suggestions about how and what to discuss. We also recommend a visit to the new school to introduce them to their new teacher. Each child has a transition form completed, which will be sent directly to the school so their new teacher is familiar with what stage of their development they are at as well as their likes and dislikes.

Invitations to parents and carers

Graduation

When it is time for our school leavers to fly the nest, we host a graduation ceremony for the families of school leavers. This is held on a Saturday we make the last of our memories with a Makaton sign language song preformed by the children, a graduation cap, gown and scroll for pictures and a parting certificate and gift.

Stay and play sessions

Throughout the year, we hold stay and play sessions, inviting parents and carers to join us at the setting. We love to have our families join us for a coffee and catch up during the week, see what we do and get stuck into playing with your child alongside the practitioners.

Fundraisers

Once a year, we host our 'Blooming tea party', this is when we raise money and awareness for Marie Curie cancer trust and collect donations for this wonderful cause. You are invited to grab a hot drink and slice of cake while we host party games for the children and a raffle.
