Our Curriculum

Our Curriculum

At Kids Capers, we pride ourselves on the care all children receive and a big part of this is ensuring all children are developing from birth to 5 years, this is prime time in a child's life when they are absorbing the most skills and knowledge to hit their milestones.

Our latest OFSTED report was in 2023 and we continued to receive a 'Good' grading

Here is snippet of what OFSTED had to say about our nursery..

"Children make good progress in their learning. They benefit from a well-planned curriculum that builds upon what they already know and can do. Staff have created a highly stimulating and inviting learning space. They have considered all aspects of the environment, such as the lighting and smell, to ensure that it is an exciting place to learn and play. Staff promote children's investigation skills by providing them with a range of natural and interesting resources. They provide opportunities for children to learn about the natural world, including planting and growing"

Development matters

There are two government documents which guide us in Early Years, The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage and Development Matters. These are used to ensure we providing all statutory requirements. We also use a planning cycle which supports practitioners in planning and documenting your child's learning

Observation, Assessment and Planning

Our planning cycle for all children, gaining observations in learning

Development Matters

This document is an in depth publication of all 7 areas of learning, we use this to support all children in reaching their milestones

Statutory framework for the EYFS

This sets a standard that all nurseries must meet for the learning, development and care of children from birth to 5

Makaton

Communication and language is paramount in Early Years, communications starts with your new born, indicating their needs through crying, as children develop they begin to use other methods of communication such as eye contact, hand gestures and expression.

Our staff have completed Makaton Level 1 training, this is a basic form of sign language, specifically designed for children to use for engagement. It has been an incredible advantage to children of all ages and abilities, studies show just how powerful sign language can be for development in communication. Along side hand gestures, we verbalise the sign with visual aids to support.

Our staff post weekly Makaton signs to our social media pages for you to try at home.

The Curiosity Approach

We are proud to be a Curiosity Approach accredited setting.

We pride ourselves on the warm and welcoming atmosphere you and your child receive on entering our nursery. We have been on a transformational journey to gain our Curiosity Approach Accreditation, transforming our nursery by moving away from bright colours to create warm and tranquil spaces with lots of natural and ‘real life’ resources. We have created spaces for children to learn through play and exploration whilst being supported by well trained and dedicated Early Years Educators.
