Equality, Inclusion and Diversity

An all inclusive setting

At Kids Capers Day Nursery, we don’t see adversity but diversity; we are a fully inclusive setting who foster equality for all. We have a Special Education Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinator (SENDCO) who is a qualified early years practitioner with vast experience in supporting children with SEND whilst supporting families with any processes. In addition to our SENDCO, we have Early Years practitioners who closely monitor all children's progress in their milestones and development. This is documented through Observation, Assessment and Planning with summative assessments completed termly. These observations and assessments help us to tailor learning and support for all children as unique individuals to give them the best start in life.

Inclusion

Each child is able to progress at their own rate in all areas of development, and this is true for children, with and without additional needs. At Kids Capers our knowledgeable SENDCO is on hand to ensure your child has all the support they need to thrive at nursery. We can incorporate action plans for individuals, this ensures that everyone is on the same page in order to present opportunities to children, allowing them to thrive and supports us in keeping track of progress.

Should your child need support beyond the nursery expertise, we have out Early Years advisor who is just a phone call away. Our advisor can guide us in opening doors to gain support from other agencies. This process is always done transparently with your full support.

If you would like to discuss the nursery's ability to meet your own child's needs, please do not hesitate to get in touch

Equality

Equality is paramount to us, ensuring all children can access the same experiences as each other while at nursery. Any daily routines, activities, trips and outings are planned thoughtfully with equal opportunities for all and we make simple adaptations where necessary, to ensure there is no missing out.

diversity

Our setting is based in a culturally diverse area and we love to make sure that all families and our staff celebrate their cultures and traditions with us. We have an annual calendar which includes celebrations such as Christmas, Diwali, Holi, St Patrick's Day and much more. Celebrating these events together allows our children to become more knowledgeable about the world around them, accepting their differences, build a sense of self and their self-esteem. It starts with our 'All About Me' forms that you will be asked to fill in prior to your child attending the nursery, From these, we can research individual children's cultures and, with your support, we can plan activities and incorporate resources that reflect diversity in our setting.
